Manchester City target Diego Forlan as fallback for Mario Balotelli

According to Mundo Deportivo, the Atletico Madrid forward is on Roberto Mancini's wish list, with the Manchester City boss having failed thus far to tie up a deal for Inter Milan striker Mario Balotelli. Diego Forlan

Forlan, the winner of the Golden Ball player of the tournament award in South Africa, had been linked with Tottenham, Juventus, Inter, Milan and Manchester United .

He has insisted he is staying at Atletico, but Mancini is hoping the mega-rich Eastlands outfit can lure the 31-year-old South American away from La Liga.

Kaka out for up to four months after knee surgery

Real Madrid have announced Kaka has undergone successful surgery on a long-standing knee injury but he will face up to four months on the sidelines.

Kaka

Kaka saw a Belgian knee specialist on Thursday after leaving Real's tour of America, which got underway on Wednesday with a 3-2 pre-season friendly win over Mexico's Club America.

A statement on Real Madrid's website read: "The operation performed on the left knee of Real Madrid C.F.'s Ricardo Izecson Dos Santos Leite 'Kaka' by Dr. Marc Martens at Antwerp's AZ Monica Hospital was a success.

"The arthroscopic surgery confirmed an injury to the left meniscus with minimal inflammation of the cartilage. The player is expected to miss three to four months."

Jose Mourinho is confident Madrid can cope in the absence of Kaka. He said: "If we lose him for some time it's no drama, we have other players and that's it, but he's one of the best players in the world."

Kaka failed to impress at this summer's World Cup as Brazil's campaign ended in the quarter-finals. As well as receiving a red card against Ivory Coast he was hampered by a groin injury, which also derailed his first season at the Bernabeu, though Real's club statement said that this injury had improved.

MAN CITY BALOTELLI DEAL OFF

MARIO BALOTELLI'S move to Manchester City could collapse because of his ‘ludicrous’ pay demands.

The 19-year-old Inter Milan striker is believed to be demanding a staggering £180,000 a week from the Eastlands club.

In addition, his agents are asking for a lucrative image rights deal, plus other add-ons.

City are now baulking at the deal, which is further being hampered by Inter president Massimo Morati holding out for £30m for the marksman.

City are prepared to go no higher than £25m, with an insider saying: “The fee is too high and his wage demands are just ludicrous.”

Talks have now hit the buffers with both clubs digging their heels in over the fee for the time being at least.

Chelsea quoted £30million for defensive target

Chelsea Football Club must pay £30million for David Luiz.

With Ricardo Carvalho set to leave Stamford Bridge this summer, probably for Real Madrid, Carlo Ancelotti is looking for another top-class centre-half.

The Italian coach has been heavily linked with Luiz for some time, but he is aware he faces competition from Premier League title rivals Manchester City.

Reports suggest Benfica are now willing to cash in on the Brazilian international, who has been called up in Mano Menezes’ first squad, but only for £30million.

Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti hoping to tie up £17 million signing of Benfica midfielder Ramires before starting pre-season tour of Germany - report

Chelsea are keen to finalise their £17 million move forBenfica midfielder Ramires before leaving for the pre-season tour of Germany.

Manager Carlo Ancelotti’s squad will depart on Saturday and the Italian hopes that the Brazil international will join the team on the trip, according to the Daily Star.

However, the Portuguese club are reluctant to give up their midfield star, and the Blues could have to wait before they complete the signing of the Brazilian World Cup star.

Chelsea, who won the Premier League and FA Cup last season, have made just one signing this summer, bringing Liverpool winger Yossi Benayoun to Stamford Bridge for just £5 million.

After letting Michael Ballack and Joe Cole leave the club this summer, Chelsea sees Ramires as an ideal replacement in the midfield.

The Blues are also interested in Benfica defender David Luiz, but the Portuguese club rejected Chelsea’s initial bid of £25 million for the centre-back.

Great news, Man City - Robinho’s coming home!

If you happened to be in Manchester during late January, there’s a good chance that you heard the sound of muffled screams soundclashing with an almighty groan, and a loud cheer.

Don’t worry - it was just the mixed opinions about Robinho being perfectly encapsulated by noise.

And now, like a geriatric echo that takes absolutely ages to do anything, those sounds shall most probably repeat themselves after a cumbersome six month gap, because yes, the artful Robinho, apparently, is on his way back.

Roberto Mancini said these words, directly tackling the situation:

“The situation is that Robinho will finish his contract with Santos.”

“After that he will stay in Brazil for another week, play for the national team and after that he will return to Manchester City.”

Real Madrid plotting move for Chelsea defender Ricardo Carvalho

Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho is believed to be readying a raid on his former club Chelsea to sign defender Ricardo Carvalho.

The defender, who was with Mourinho at Porto, joined him at Stamford Bridge in 2004 for a fee reported to be £19.85 million, going on to make over 200 appearances for the west London club.

But in recent times, the Portugal international has fallen down the pecking order at Chelsea - with previous reports indicating that manager Carlo Ancelotti may be looking to pair skipper John Terry with Alex in the heart of his defence next season.

This has led to the 32-year-old being linked with a move away from the club, Inter being mooted as one of his potential destinations.

Dzeko set to reject City for Juve

Dzeko has long been on the radar of some of Europe's biggest clubs - with both Manchester City and Juventus heavily linked with the Bosnian striker.

The player himself seems keener on a move to Turin than Eastlands and told Tuttosport: "I will reject Manchester City once again if Juventus really want me."

Juve and Wolfsburg are reportedly in negotiations which have become protracted due to the €40 million price-tag the German club has slapped on their prized asset.

The Bianconeri are currently cash-strapped and are trying to cobble together a cash plus player deal that will see them part with €20 million as well as Diego.

From the player's perspective, it would certainly make more sense to move to Italy than England.

Manchester City are currently on a spending spree that could see five or more strikers competing for two starting places. Despite the riches on offer, it is not exactly the most attractive place for a player looking for a regular place in the starting eleven.

Chelsea have offered Benfica £20 million for BrazilianWorld Cup star Ramires, reports The Daily Mail.

The popular 'Blue Kenyan' is also being courted by Bayern Munich and Barcelona.

Representatives of the 23-year-old say moving to Stamford Bridge would be a 'dream move' for the Brazilian.

Ramires himself is quoted as saying: "It would be a dream for me to play for a big club such as Barcelona, Real Madrid or Chelsea."

Ramires caught the eye when he embarked on an impressive run before setting up Robinho to score in Brazil's 3-0 victory over Chile during World Cup 2010.

Meanwhile Brazilian side Santos have told the Blues their £17m bid for wonderkid Neymar does not reach their valuation.

Santos want £30m but the 18-year-old is keen on a Premier League move and the World Cup star could force his club's hand.

kaka for a.cole

Real Madrid are prepared to break Chelsea's resolve to keep Ashley Cole by offering Brazil superstar Kaka in exchange, according to The Mirror.

The England World Cup 2010 left back is understood to be determined to leave the country due to the press attention following his split from wife, Cheryl. After bringing him to the Blues in 2006, new Madrid head coach Jose Mourinho is reported to be ready to seize the chance to have a reunion with the former Arsenal player.

Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti has declared he has no intention of letting Cole go even for a reported £30 million. This position could be weakened, however, if Kaka was sent to Stamford Bridge in an exchange.

The attacking midfielder endured a debut campaign of disappointment at the Bernabeu after suffering a decline in form and fitness. Ancelotti brough the best out of the £56 million signing at AC Milan and could be tempted by the opportunity bringing the best out of him again.
